Whether it's a single Iris or a field full...

For a few weeks each year our meadows literally glow with vibrant colours. The irises are simply gorgeous.

Striking The Pose - Again

Hope my doting on Miss "S" isn't boring you too badly. When we're out for an evening walk on the trails it's hard not to be taken by her regal poses.

Miss "S" Takes a Break

Time out from her patrol.

It's Iris Time Again

To experience the sight of hundreds of irises that decorate our fields each year almost cancels the annoyance of the biting insects. Almost.

The landscape here morphs from the flat, visibly lifeless death mask of winter to the exquisite vibrancy of spring/summer in a matter of days. It's almost as if nature fires some sort of silent starting pistol and an almost infinite variety of biomass races to maturity. A special delight this year is the number of BEES - lots and lots of them - sometimes two or three per flower.

Richard at 72

I don't normally photograph well, in my view, but here Craig's photographic talents shine through. With this pic I can proudly claim not to look my age. Thanks Craig.

Tulips and Forget-Me-Nots

Considering, that just a few weeks ago this very site was under a meter of snow and ice, it sure is a treat to gaze upon this wonderful display of tulips in a bed of forget-me-nots.
